Most people are familiar with the game of backgammon. This game is a board game for two players and can be played as a normal board game but can also be played on the Internet. Except for the normal backgammon game there is also another version of this classic game called backgammon chouette.
What is backgammon chouette?
The backgammon chouette game is a type of backgammon game that can be played by three or even more people at the same time. This game can now be played on the Internet by one person or more and brings players from all over the world together. Backgammon chouette is a fast game, and tends to be a bit more exciting than a regular game of backgammon. The game makes use of a so called doubling cube and there are more options when it comes to moves.
How to play chouette backgammon
So how do you play this game? There is one player, also referred to as the box, who is playing against a team of multiple players. One person in this team of players is called the captain. This game is played on a regular single backgammon game board according to the game’s rules. It is the person designated to be the captain who makes all the final decisions on all the checker plays in the game. However the captain is allowed to ask his team-mates to help him or her on decisions. There are versions of the game where every person in the team has a doubling cube to use. This means that they are able to double regardless of what their team mates decide to do.
A chouette game is actually played very much in the same way as the regular game of backgammon for money. The game knows know exact score and after one game has been finished the score is tabulated after which a new game starts. There is no "match score"; one game is played, scores are tabulated, and another players positions turn around after every game and if the box wins a game he or she will then stay the box in the next game. This also goes for the captain in a game. The captain in the game is then followed up by another member of the game team and the person being the rejoins the team again after a full rotation. The choice of the box as well as the rotation in the game are chosen by the roll of the dice.
Each player in the game keeps a score based on the points won and the points that were lost in every single game in a series. When chouette backgammon is played as an actual gambling game the score is usually multiplied by the stakes set and raised in the chouette game to base the money payout at the end of the game on.
What is the doubling cube?
The chouette game was originally played with only a single cube. However more variations of the game were developed with the use of multiple cubes and doubling cubes. With the use of these cubes the rules of the game were altered as well of course.
The general rules that apply to this type of game are:
• In general the so called Jacoby rule will be used.
• Players on the chouette team are generally allowed to consult with each other after their cube was turned.
• It is optional for players to refuse a double in the game. If a player makes use of the right to refuse a double the captain can actually buy his cube.
With these general rules you will be able to participate in a game of chouette with very little explanation.
