There are more advanced strategies. The most popular, and the one featured in the movie 21, is card counting. Card counting works best on single deck blackjack. In card counting, a player looks for the optimal mathematical advantage based on the cards that have already been dealt. A counter keeps track of every card dealt and figures his or her mathematical advantage to make certain plays based on the analysis.
There are other tactics that are more intricate, such as shuffle tracking, a technique that is used in tracking cards through multiple shuffles. It’s much more difficult to master than card counting, but it can be used in multiple shufflers.
